Ring Masters is a barbershop quartet that was founded in autumn 2006. The members Jacob Stenberg (tenor), Rasmus Krigström (lead), Emanuel Roll (baritone) and Martin Wahlgren (bass) have all studied at Adolf Fredrik’s Music School and graduated at Stockholm High School of Music. It was through music secondary school chamber choir as they got to know each other and together they took a fancy to the barbershop. Today sings the four inter alia, in the barbershop chorus Zero 8 and other vocal ensembles. In addition to the choir singers also play several different instruments.
The quartet draws inspiration from other vocal groups such as Vocal Spectrum, Take 6, Cadence, Four Voices and Second Edition, but also influenced by the likes of The Beatles. Themselves, they believe that it is important to sing different genres of music. This is something that shows up when you hear their repertoire and their own arrangements.
Since its inception in 2006, Ringmasters had time to race several times and the quartet has become recognized as “young talent” when they have gone from strength to strength. After having just been singing together for five months they managed to break into third place in the Nordic Championships in barbershop when the contest was settled in 2007. This led to a scholarship and further advancement to the College World Championships, held in Denver (USA) that same year. Once there, they managed to come in tenth place. In October 2007, the quartet won the IAB international barbershop competition in Cork (Ireland).
The experience has made them much better as a group and the foreign trips have been educational. Through the successes they have managed to create a name that is now highlighted in both Sweden and Ireland, and the USA. Their future goal is to win the World Cup and put Sweden on the map barbershop, once and for all.
Individually speaking, all very good vocal abilities which sounds when they sing together.
