CALIFORNIA TOUR 2009
From the 19th of January – 1st of February, Ringmasters were on tour in California and Arizona. We landed in San Diego where we had eight high school appearances, one workshop and a few shows, all in all more than twelve “showtimes” in a mere week.
Moving on we drove to the Westminster rehearsal in Los Angeles on Sunday and watched as the magic took place, ending the night very late outside of Friday’s with the last part of the crew.
The day after that we flew in a tiny little airplane over to Prescott, Arizona. After a nice dinner with our hosts we went to bed pretty early, for the coming day was going to be long. On the day after, this is Tuesday; we did four high schools and one grand show the same night. To our great joy we managed to inspire people from all of the high schools to come to that show the same night, it was packed! The singing continued in the oldest bar downtown Prescott until the wee hours.
Wednesday morning we flew back, now having Pasadena and the midwinter convention ahead of us. After some recovering time at the pool (this is very rare and luxurious to Swedish people being in late January) we drove to watch the Masters of Harmony rehearse in LA. After seeing the amazing and intense practice we finished at their hang out before going back to Pasadena.
So on Thursday the midwinter convention finally started. We had a small set in the Perfect Gentlemen’s show that night, getting ready for the big shows that weekend. On Friday we saw the American harmony movie in a theatre in Pasadena. Then at night we had a small set on the show, a bit too short some people thought. On Saturday we competed in the youth chorus contest together with the San Diego youth chorus, and in the evening we did a longer set in the show. Featuring the audience in All You Need Is Love (Lennon/McCartney) we finished our official show time for the tour, though we unofficially continued all night, almost until the cab came to pick us up to drive us to the airport.
We want to thank everybody from San Diego to Los Angeles to Inland Empire to Arizona to Pasadena for this fantastic trip! The world of barbershop is a wonderful place to be in!!!
